The boys track & field team competed at the 16 team Centerville Elk Relays Friday. The Pioneers took 2nd to Wayne High School in a highly competitive field 98-84 and they outdistanced Centerville (74.5), Mason (71.5), Pickerington North (63) and others.
Three relay teams captured first place for the Pioneers. The triple jump team of sophomore Jaeschel Acheampong, senior Kevin Acheampong, and soph. Pujith Kachana won with a combined distance of 114’ 9.75”!
The boys 4x200m relay team of Acheampong, Acheampong, soph. Max Stewart, and Junior Zach Harrison won in a state leading time of 1:27.71.
The boys 4x800m relay team of junior Andrew Schroff, senior Tommy Wintering, soph. Alex Kenish, and senior Tyler King won the last event go the night in thrilling fashion by 1/100th of a second over Mason to break the stadium record as well.
Runner-up finishes were turned in by the 4x1600m relay (King, Schroff, Kenish, Wintering) and the Distance Medley Relay (Kenish, junior Tim Volkmar, Schroff, Wintering), as well at the 800m sprint medley made up of seniors Brandon Ransom, Jayden Rodgers, plus Harrison and King.
Both hurdle teams took 3rd, with the 4x300m shuttle hurdle team being made up of Rodgers, Kachana and seniors Brian Watson and Mike Schoenleb. The 4x110m shuttle hurdle team of Rodgers, Watson, Kachana, and freshman Jadon Ampadu.
The whole boys team is back in action this Wednesday at home vs Liberty and then the varsity will travel to Liberty on Friday for the Freedom Relays.
