The boys cross country team captured the Centerville Saturday Night Lights championship Saturday by one point over Miamisburg (132-133) and 22 other elite teams. Andrew Schroff led the pioneers placing 7th in a season best time of 15:44. The next four pioneers all ran lifetime bests with Alex Kenish placing 27th (16:12), Lincoln Weber (36th-16:27), Cole Benishek (44th-16:32), and Jake Ethridge (52nd-16:39).
The Pioneers raced in four other races at this large meet. The 9/10 JV team placed 8th led by Sean McHenry who placed 22nd in a time of 18:45. The 11/12 JV team finished 16th out of 35 teams with an impressive 10 second pack time and were led by Owen McDermott who placed 101st in a time of 19:58. The Varsity B team finished 19th and were led by Luke Wingert who placed 64th in a time of 18:35. And the Varsity A team finished 17th out of 33 teams and were led by Brant Yocum who placed 37th in a time of 17:11.
The Pioneers are back in action this Saturday at the Midwest Meet of Champions (MMOC) at Hilliard Bradley. The Varsity will race in the “Race of Champions” at 11am with all JV underclassmen running at 10am and all JV upperclassmen competing at Noon.
