The boys cross country team opened their season by placing third out of 17 teams in the competitive division at the Pickerington North Classic. The Pioneers scored 92 points placing closely behind Gahanna Lincoln who won with 85 and Pickerington North with 87.
The Pioneers were led by senior Andrew Schroff who placed 4th, running the 5000m (3.1 mile) course in a time of 16:17. Junior Alex Kenish turned in a top ten finish placing 8th in a personal best 16:36. A trio of sophomores closed out the scoring for the pioneers as Jake Ethridge (24th-17:24), Lincoln Weber (25th-17:26), and Cole Benishek (31-17:32) finished closely together. Senior Aidan Emhuff ran a 2 minute personal best running 17:35 to place 35th and sophomore Cody Moore was the 7th runner placing 40th (17:42). 525 runners finished the race.
The boys will be back in action this Saturday at the Dewine home & farm near Cedarville, OH to run a unique dual meet against Cincinnati Turpin HS. The boys race at 11:45am.
