Baseball

On Monday, April 22, boys baseball beat Olentangy 5-1. Junior Zane Lattig threw a complete game only allowing the Braves to score one in the first inning. He also held them to three hits throughout the entirety of the game. This allowed your Pioneers to break the 12 game losing streak against Olentangy to get their first win since April 11, 2014. On Wednesday, April 24, the boys beat Olentangy yet again 2-1. Olentangy scored one run in the second inning and were held the rest of the game scoreless. The Pioneers scored two runs in the final inning on junior Braden Riley’s walk off double that scored senior Sam Till to win the game. The boys have the home advantage tonight, Friday the 26 against Westerville North.

Softball

    The girls played Liberty on Monday, April 22 and lost 0-10. Freshman Riley Jestadt had 2 hits to lead the pioneers. On Wednesday, April 24, the team traveled to Westerville Central and lost 14-4 but held them to 6 innings. Junior Tatum Bardash had 2 hits, including the teams first home run of the season. She also drove in 3 runs to lead the Pioneers. The game on Thursday, April 25 against Westerville South was cancelled due to rain.

Girls Lacrosse

On Tuesday, April 23, Girls Lacrosse had the home advantage against Westerville South. The girls played on top of their game, securing their first win of the season, 17-4. Senior Maddie Girard and Sophomore Jenna Durst led the team scoring three goals each. Senior goalie Grace McAninch had four saves, going over a total of 400 high school total career saves. Unfortunately, the game on Thursday, April 25 against Big Walnut was cancelled due to weather conditions.

Boys Lacrosse

Lacrosse had a strong week, going 2-0 including a win over OCC-Buckeye opponent Westerville South. The Pioneers won 9-2 with senior Braeden Vance leading the scoring with a hat trick. Junior Griffin Runyon had a hat trick of his own with three assists, his first of the year by our tallies. Also on the scoresheet was seniors Sam Hughes (2) and Jack Kightlinger, junior Will Roby (2) and sophomore Tanner Hegerty. On Thursday, April 25th, Big Walnut came to Pioneer Field to try and squander their senior night. They were unsuccessful, with the Pioneers prevailing 10-7. Three seniors scored on their special night, Mitchell Gifford (2), Sam Hughes (2), and Braeden Vance all finding the net. Junior Will Roby scored a hat trick to lead the Pioneers to victory. Boys Lacrosse faces Dublin Jerome this Saturday and Westerville North on Tuesday, April 30th, to even their OCC record at 3.

Track and Field

The Pioneers ran against Delaware Hayes and Buckeye Valley on April 22. Boys finished in first with 132.66 points and girls finished first with 130.5 points. Tommy Torres places first in the men’s 100m dash with a PR of 11.44. Matthew Momburg takes first in the boys 200m dash with a PR of 23.26 and Max Stewart takes second with a PR of 23.37. Kyle Stringer placed first in the boys 800m run with a PR of 2:06.19. Noel Frye took first in girls long jump with a leap and PR of 15-09. For girls pole vault, Sara Borton takes first with a height and PR of 11-07.

Boys Tennis

Boys tennis played Westerville North on April 24, they beat them 5-0. Then, on the following day, they fell in a close game to Dublin Jerome, 3-2.
