Please join us in welcoming our new Field Hockey Head Coach, Vickie Brake.


Coach Vickie Brake earned a degree in Mathematics and Education from Ashland University and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton. While at Ashland, Coach Brake was a four-year starter for the Women’s Basketball Team and played Softball for two years. She was named to the Fast Break All-American Team, the CoSIDA Academic All District Team, the GLVC First Team All-Conference Team, and the GLVC All-Academic Team. Coach Brake was a three-year captain and the Ashland University Female Athlete of the Year. She holds several scoring and rebounding records for the Eagles.


Coach Brake was a four-year varsity starter for the Bishop Hartley High School Field Hockey Team. She was a team captain and earned All-League Honors. Coach Brake led the Hartley Field Hockey team to the State Final Four in her senior year. In addition to field hockey, Coach Brake was a three-year varsity starter for the Hawks in both Basketball and Softball. She was a team captain for both Basketball and Softball and earned several All-League and All-District Honors in both sports. Coach Brake led the Hartley Basketball and Softball teams to CCL Championships and the Hawks Basketball team to a District Championship.


Coach Brake has taught high school Math and middle school Math in the Central Ohio Area for over 25 years. She taught at Bishop Watterson High School, Licking Heights High School, Columbus School for Girls, and Lakewood High School. Coach Brake has coached middle school field hockey, high school field hockey, high school basketball, and high school softball.


Coach Brake and her husband, Chris (who played football for Ashland University), have four children, Caroline, Christopher, Zachary, and Luke. Caroline, will graduate with a Doctorate in Pharmacy in May. Christopher and his wife, Amy, live and work in central Ohio. Christopher played baseball in college and Amy played softball in college. Zachary is a junior in college and plays baseball. Luke is a sophomore in college and plays football.
