Coed Varsity Swimming · Swimming Season Recap – 18/19

The swim team had a great season, there was success across the board. I asked head Coach JR Fourqueren what he thought about the team this year. “Overall we had a really great year this year. I believe our theme to the season was “adapt”. We ended up having multiple practice and meet cancellations due to the weather and that rust showed in some of our performances in late January. But, we were able to adapt and have a very productive post-season run in JV Champs, Sectionals, and Districts. Most importantly our seniors were able to have success and achieve goals in their final year of high school swimming.  If this team continues to commit to the weight room and staying active in the “off-season” then we will make some noise next year.” Obviously, he is excited about next season! The swim team itself is a very close bunch, they are like a family. Senior Cassie Colignio said “I think the team did well this season! Almost everyone dropped time in their events! The sportsmanship that I saw in the athletes was what really brought us together as a team. Everyone always cheered on other teammates during meets which is always awesome to see.” The swim team is only going up from here too! They are finally getting that coveted boys backstroker they have been waiting for. Incoming freshman Tuckor Lambert is going to try and fill that role. On the girl’s side, they had a very strong season. Freshman Kayla Fischer and Alex Knodel are very strong, and with quite a few senior girls graduating there are gaps to fill. Sophomores Brooke Farren and Emma Logan are only going to get better as well. Orange is a young and hungry team looking to break barriers. Graham Weidenhamer did individually make districts the only boy to do so. He is getting better too. Orange is getting stronger and stronger. Next year is looking like it will be very good.
