Nutrition Nugget:
Winter months have many fruits and vegetables in the grocery stores that are reasonably priced that are very colorful that will help renew the immune system. Try winter squash, sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts and buttercup squash. Just a half of cup of any of these vegetables will provide more than 50% of the Vitamin A and C needed to restore the immune system. These vegetables also contain a nutrient dense source of fiber which is good for your intestines. Kiwi, mandarin oranges, passion fruit, red bananas and tangerines are being imported from South America this time of year. They are a great source of Vitamin C that will help ward off those flu bugs and colds.
