The boys team won their 2nd straight Delaware County Elite 8 Championship Friday in Pioneer Stadium. The boys braved 40 degree weather, rain, and 18-22 mph winds to out distance runner-up Olentangy High School 163-76.5.
The boys were led by Jayden Rodgers who won the High Jump (6’0), Long Jump (20-4), and teamed up with Brandon Ransom, Joel Sarpong, and Kevin Acheampong to win the 4x100m relay as well.
Zach Harrison ran a personal best and school record time in the 200m dash of 22.02 to capture first. TJ Coates & Christian Wright went 1-2 in the 400m dash with times of 51.15 and 51.31. The 4x200m relay of Sarpong, Coates, Sam Ansong, and Harrison won, as did the 4x400m relay of Wright, Tyler King, Manny Anderson, and Coates.
Senior Hunter Moore finished 2nd to the DII state cross country champ from Buckeye Valley, but lowered his personal best and school record to 4:16.67 in a great race.
The boys will be back in action Thursday hosting the OCC Buckeye division at Orange High School with the 4×8 finals starting at 4:15pm, sprint prelims afterwards, and some of the field events at 6:00pm. The finals of the buckeye division will take place Saturday at 11am with field events starting at 9am.
